CONTINUOUS STUDIES
CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT FOR THE NEW IMAGE
DESIGNER - STYLIST SPECIALTY
LT/01B/F/PP-137.005
Financial sources
Leonardo da Vinci - European Community Vocational Training
Action Programme
Duration
01/11/2001 - 31/10/2003
Project Rationale
The project is strongly oriented towards the labour market and
reflects the real market needs: there is a high request in the fashion industry
labour market for the highly qualified designers - stylists possessing
professional skills and knowledge in various elements of personal image, such as
dressing, hairdressing and make-up. In other words, there is some kind of a gap
between the demands of the ordinary consumers and the exclusive fashion centres
providing a variety of services in portfolio in many European countries.
Project Aims
-
Introduction of a set of professional competence
requirements, acknowledged by all partner institutions and leading to a new
Stylist/Image Designer speciality,
-
Development of a Manual for this speciality embracing the
non-university level Curriculum for five modules: hairdressing, sewing,
cosmetic, fashion and entrepreneurship.
-
The Manual and the set of professional competencies will be
issued in English - the official project language - so as to make the
project results accessible to a wider range of potential users.
Project Beneficiaries
The Curriculum is addressed to the following target groups:
students of vocational schools and colleges; employees in the fashion sector
industry having basic vocational knowledge in one of the related fields who seek
to upgrade and develop their professional competencies. The project aims to
enhance their employability in the labour market, develop their ability to
independently create workplace for themselves.
An experimental group of students, basic vocational training
graduates in respective fields, were recruited and informed about the project
from the very start by all partner institutions. After intensive courses on the
new speciality, they will go to the partner institution for apprenticeship. This
group of students will be the main project participant, assessor and
beneficiary. They will be assessed during the final project conference to be
held in November 2003.
-
Students will be required to present their diploma work as
an indication of the competencies obtained. This 'exam' will serve as a
basis to confer the qualification of Stylist/Image Designer.
-
The Diploma and International Certificate will be conferred
to the successful graduates.
Certification and Validation
-
The agreement to be reached on a set of the professional
competencies by all the partner institutions will lead to the continuation
of the project.
-
Certification of the Curriculum and a set of professional
competencies by the partner countries.
